In love in the OC? Shannon Beador moved on with John Janssen after her messy divorce from ex-husband David Beador.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star and her businessman beau celebrated their first anniversary on June 21, 2020.
“One year ago, the first date @fableandspirit,” Shannon captioned a selfie of the pair via Instagram. “One year later, celebrating at the same place. ❤️ #butsocialdistancing😉.”
Us Weekly confirmed in July 2019 that the Bravo star had a new man in her life. A month later, Shannon confirmed to Us that the duo met through mutual friends.
“I’ve never been happier. I’m in a really great place,” she gushed to Us in August 2019. “My friends have known him for 30 years, so I didn’t have to make sure he was there for the right reasons. … He’s just a great person. I have a great connection with him.”
Shannon was previously married to David for nearly two decades. The exes, who wed in 2000, share daughters Sophie, Stella and Adeline. They announced their separation in October 2017 but didn’t file for divorce until that December. It would take nearly two years for the former couple to finalize the paperwork.
“David is dragging it out and doing whatever he can so he doesn’t have to pay her out,” an insider told Us in 2018, noting that Shannon was “frustrated” and just wanted “this divorce to be over.”
Us confirmed in April 2019 that Shannon and David’s divorce was finalized.
“A tough day that ended in celebration and I ran into this friend…” she captioned a photo with costar Gina Kirschenheiter via Instagram after the news broke.
David, who was ordered to pay Shannon $10,000 per month in combined child and spousal support payments, moved on with Lesley Cook. The duo announced their engagement in 2020 and wed that October. While the twosome went on to welcome daughter Anna Love in February 2021, they seemingly split in 2022, sharing conflicting messages via social media about filing for divorce.
Shannon and Janssen, meanwhile, were still going strong after more than three years together when he ended things in November 2022.
“We’re two people who love each other very much, but love is not always enough,” he said at the time. “And while I know Shannon sees it as I’ve said things to her I never meant, I hope she’ll be able to see that there’s no bad person here. It’s two really good people who couldn’t make it work. … I think the world of Shannon. I just want the best for her. She deserves that.”

The twosome went on their first date in June 2019. By July, Shannon was smitten. “She’s super happy. She’s met his kids, her kids have met him. Everyone likes him,” a source told Us at the time.
Shannon confirmed she was “in love” with Janssen in August 2019.
“What lacked in my marriage before is I want to be part of a partnership and team. I’m looking forward to that,” she told Us after revealing she would “absolutely” get married again. ”I haven’t wanted to rush into anything. I’ve got one shot left if I want to be realistic. … I want to be certain this time that everything is gonna be good.”
Things didn’t go as planned when David met his ex-wife’s new man for the first time.
“They’ve seen each other, but David isn’t interested. I tried to introduce them, but he walked away. David walked away,” she told Us in October 2019. “I should have expected it.”
Shannon and Janssen confirmed to Us in November 2019 that her daughters get along with his kids.
“Everybody gets along and are growing closer and closer every day, and we’re all together as a group all the time,” Janssen told Us, noting that they were spending the holidays together.
Shannon shared a sweet note Janssen left for her on her 56th birthday in March 2020.
“9 months ago our journey began. The timing was bad and made no sense to either of us or to any of our friends and family,” he penned. “I was not in the right frame of mind to meet anyone and was just trying to get my balance. You were not looking for a relationship, but rather were just spending time and having fun with friends after an emotional two years of ending your marriage. But once we were introduced something inside me knew that I had to talk to you.”
He went on to gush about their “chemistry and connection.”
Janssen concluded: “You are my person; the one I was meant to be with, the one that makes me feel whole. I started falling in love with you almost immediately and my love has grown ever stronger as our time together has flown by. I find myself thinking and wondering at times if this is real, how did I get so blessed? Then I look into your beautiful eyes and know it IS real and it is how our world should be. You are such an amazing woman and you surprise me every day. I have never believed that a woman could be so loving, generous, intelligent, creative, determined, funny, fun loving, hardworking, successful, down to earth, nurturing, protective, loyal, encouraging and have my back no matter what. Then I met you; you are all of that and more. You are my best friend and the woman I can not live without.”
The pair celebrated one year together in June 2020.
Shannon told Us that she wants to get married again, opening up about her beau’s relationship with her daughters.
“John knows that they have a father. He’s kind to them and he’s sweet and helpful when they need anything,” she said. “But he doesn’t take on that father role.”
“Perfect day walking along the beach and finishing with our favorite chili cheese omelette @galleycafenewportbeach ❤️,” Shannon captioned a sweet selfie.
The pair marked their third anniversary.
“Three years ago today John Janssen and I had our first date and I sang karaoke for the first time!” she wrote via Instagram. “It seems like yesterday, yet I can’t imagine life without you! Happy three years sweetheart! ❤️”
“Happy Happy 60th Birthday to my favorite man John Janssen! 🥰” Shannon gushed via Instagram. “It seems like we met just yesterday, yet I am so grateful to spend the last 4 birthdays with you! I am so blessed to have you in my life and wish you the most amazing year ahead! I love you!!! ❤️❤️❤️”
Janssen quietly ended their relationship, which left Shannon “blindsided” as they had just filmed season 17 of RHOC.
“All I can do is repeat in my head what he said to me while we were filming. We were in a great place. But seven days later, when the cameras were down, it was a completely different story,“ she told People. “He told me he was done with the relationship. And to hear what he said to me then was absolutely devastating.”
The pair saw each other twice after their breakup at two separate University of Southern California games on November 26 and December 3.
“I was hopeful we could find a way forward. But being around one another only made it harder for both of us,” Shannon explained. “I couldn’t believe he wasn’t here [on Thanksgiving and Christmas], and there would be days I would just cry myself to sleep. But it’s a new year, and I’m ready for a fresh start.”
“It’s sad because I love Shannon very much. I have loved her more deeply than any woman in my life,” he told People at the time. “She’s one of a kind; so funny and generous and full of life and adventurous. We have a connection that’s unlike anything I’ve ever had. And I know that for as long as I live, I’ll never meet anyone like her again. But that doesn’t mean we’re right for each other for the rest of our lives.”
Shannon added: “I was hopeful this was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I wanted it to work out. I’ve never loved anyone like I’ve loved John. But clearly, he didn’t feel the same way.”
