The title of Gabrielle Union‘s new Netflix movie, The Perfect Find, seems to refer to her character’s love interest, but after seeing the trailer that just dropped, it could arguably refer to the haircut she has in it, too.
Both Union and Netflix’s Strong Black Lead account shared the trailer to Instagram on Thursday, May 18, and by the tenth second, we’re introduced to one of the sleekest, chicest looks we’ve ever seen on the actor and hair-care entrepreneur: a super-short (we’re talking barely chin-length), shiny, middle-parted, razor-straight bob with timeless appeal and a modern edge.
The hairstyle may play a part in Union’s character, Jenna, a fashion editor trying to make a career comeback, attracting the attention of Keith Powers’s character, Eric, a much younger videographer (Union and Powers are 20 years apart in real life) who turns out to be the son of Jenna’s not-so-friendly boss. It just goes to show that love is ageless and has great taste in hair.
Although Union wears the cut ultra-straight for most of the movie, the trailer gives us hints at how versatile this bob is. She’s seen wearing it in retro waves reminiscent of 1920s styles as well as loose yet voluminous, side-parted curls.
