As much as we love seeing our favorite beauty brands turn out for the LGBTQ+ community for Pride Month by donating a portion of proceeds to various organizations, we love supporting the queer community directly even more by shopping from LGBTQ+-owned beauty brands.
After all, under federal and most states’ laws, LGBTQ+ people aren’t explicitly protected from discrimination. That’s why entrepreneurship in the community matters and, in an industry where people are seeking, celebrating, and demanding inclusivity now more than ever, there’s no better time to commemorate the queer-owned hair, makeup, and skin-care companies out there.
There are plenty of ways to get involved during Pride Month, from donating to volunteering, but making a conscious effort to shop from LGBTQ+ brands during June and beyond is one of our personal favorites. When you go to restock on moisturizer, look for a new lip color, or pick up a shampoo and conditioner combo, buying from queer-founded brands cuts out the middle man and helps independent business owners directly.
From hair care to makeup and skin care, we rounded up 31 beauty brands owned by LGBTQ+ innovators that you should check out immediately. Whether you’re looking for a new lipstick for summer, a restock of shampoo, or a fresh fragrance to replace your tried and true, keep scrolling.
