When most folks think of Shakira, I’m sure images of her belly dancing and her “Hips Don’t Lie” music video come to mind. I, personally, think of her early days as a brunette, the animated “Objection (Tango)” music video, and her oil-soaked dance routine in “La Tortura” video, a personal fave. Fair to say I’m a fan of the Colombian singer. Despite that, I was totally unprepared for her ensemble at the Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023/2024 show, which could best be described as meme-worthy.
She arrived at the fashion show in a white knee-length dress with studded golden trim. It seems like an ordinary outfit until you look at the dress’s 3D bodice, sculpted into the shape of the word “no” in massive letters across her chest. She paired her white dress with chunky gold heels and dark tinted shades.
Her hair was styled simply. The straight, highlighted pieces cascaded all the way down to her waist, nearly grazing the “no” on her chest and the belt at her waist. You can see a sliver of her brunette roots that quickly transition into the caramel and honey-blonde color less than an inch from her scalp.
